I am a Lighting Designer, Project Director and one of three founding members of the lighting practice at Arup. I lead the UKIMEA Lighting studio of 40 designers across 7 locations. I am an acknowledged expert both within Arup and externally in the field of lighting design and technology, with a particular passion in daylight design. My expertise has shaped many of our key projects, including the Sterling Prize winning Sainsbury Laboratory

I have extensive experience working in multi-disciplinary teams on a wide range of building projects including; commercial, aviation, retail and residential developments as well as museums, theatres, libraries and exterior lighting projects. I believe lighting defines user experience of space and architecture, also that lighting plays a vital role in positively influencing our health and wellbeing within the built environment.

I have also authored and co-authored numerous lighting guides, including contributing to the BCO Lighting Guide, Society of Light and Lighting Daylight Guide (LG10) and Museum Lighting Guide (LG8), as well as the RIBA Technical Review series on Lighting.

I am a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Society of Light and Lighting and a member of both Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

As leader of the UKIMEA Lighting Skills Network, I play an active role in promoting lighting design within the firm, in educating young designers and engineers in lighting, in driving cutting-edged lighting-related research and in marketing the business externally.
