I am an Associate Director at Arup and the Arup Hotels & Leisure Sector Leader for our Building Engineering team based in London.

Working as a public health engineer I am passionate about water, how this precious resource can have a positive impact on users and communities, how it can be conserved, and how it can be enjoyed. I am particularly interested in working towards net-zero carbon projects and designing water systems to align with this goal.

My areas of expertise include water efficiency, alternative water sources, leisure facilities, water features, sustainable drainage (SuDS), low evaporation irrigation, fire suppression, green roofs and complex roof geometry.

Leading projects, I am responsible for ensuring the collaboration of our teams to achieve the best possible designs. As Project Director of Oman Botanic Garden I have enjoyed the many challenges we have encountered and the inspiring solutions we have developed, from using the power of the sun to drive the cooling of the glasshouses to not wasting a drop of water.

I have worked extensively on mixed use and high-rise developments, hotels and public buildings. I am proud to have delivered award winning projects with recognition from RIBA, BCIA, Building Service Journal, Environment Agency Water Efficiency and the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building
