Fiona Patterson is an Associate Environmental Consultant at Arup in Ireland and our Nature Lead for Europe. With a deep interest in nature services, particularly nature restoration and nature-based solutions, Fiona delivers projects across multiple sectors with the aim of achieving net positive environmental outcomes. She has a comprehensive understanding of related global drivers and sensitivities across the nature agenda, how organisations are responding and where to position. Fiona was part of the first Arup delegation to attend the Convention on Biological Diversity COP15 in Montreal, Canada.

She has over 22 years’ experience in managing environmental aspects of major projects with expertise in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) scoping and screening, EIA Reports (EIAR), Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), Appropriate Assessment (AA), ecological assessment and constraints analysis.

Fiona manages the environmental deliverables required during constraints and route/site options analysis for major projects, as well as the preparation of environmental audits, industrial licencing reports and environmental due diligence reports. She has provided evidence as an expert witness at oral hearings.

Key projects include the North Irish Sea Array Offshore Windfarm, various flood relief schemes and transportation projects.
