John is a Director and Arup’s UKIMEA Aviation Skills Leader, developing our members’ thinking and capability around low or zero carbon energy for aviation. He has led several studies into hydrogen for use in aviation covering supply, demand, and infrastructure topics.

John first became involved in civil aviation through his work on Terminal 5 at Heathrow. In 2010, he joined Heathrow and was responsible for developing a c. £600m, five-year plan to upgrade the hold baggage screening capability across the airport. In his previous role at Arup, John led the Aviation Advisory business in London, working with many airport clients around the world, including Sydney, Kuwait, Toronto, Montreal, Warsaw and Vancouver.

He sits on the Aerospace Technology Institute’s Sustainability Advisory Group. John is also working towards a PhD at the University of Southampton, applying Operational Research techniques in the field of airport development.
