Karsten Spengler leads the Frankfurt office and is Co-Leader of the Science, Industry and Technology Business at Arup in Germany.

Spengler studied Thermodynamics and Fluid Dynamics at Technical University (TU) Dresden and graduated as Diplom-Ingenieur for Building Services.

With over 25 years in the business, he has extensive experience steering multi-disciplinary design teams for public sector, education, research, and industry projects in Germany and abroad. The sustainable design of Data Centers and their integration into urban and society context play an important role in his professional life.

Important projects of his work include, for example, the New Build of the Environmental Ministry in Berlin but also the Citigroup Data Center in Frankfurt. The latter became not only the worlds first LEED Platinum certified Data Center but also opened a new horizon in terms of sustainability and efficiency in this industry.

Other focus areas of his work include the revitalization of existing properties and the design for circular construction.
