Michael McGowan is the Chief Operating Officer for Australasia, overseeing all the commercial and operational activities within the region.

Michael currently sits on the Australasia Board and is the region’s Health and Safety Director, as well as a company Director of our Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand and Singapore businesses, and a member of the Southeast Asia Executive.

A Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, he has been deeply involved in building long-term significant client relationships and major, complex projects throughout his 27-year career at Arup, including in Changi Airport Terminal 5, Cross Island and Thomson-East Coast Line projects.

Michael has lived and worked in Asia for over 25 years and has worked in three of Arup’s five global operating regions, resulting in a wide and varied understanding of approaches to major projects and transport infrastructure.
