Based in Arup’s Mauritius office, Michael Sew is a Director specialising in the construction and refurbishment of sustainable resorts, hotels, and mixed-use developments. Through his work, Michael aims to create resilient buildings that visitors can enjoy for decades to come, prioritising the use of locally sourced materials to help reduce the transport-related carbon emissions of his projects while supporting regional economies.

With over 30 years’ experience, Michael has supported clients located across a wide range of geographies, including Mauritius, Morocco, the Seychelles, and the Maldives. Working closely with local architects, he has delivered a host of major leisure projects in these countries, such as the Le Trou aux Biches Hotel, the LUX Grand Bay Hotel, the Domaine Royal Palm Marrakech, the Ste Anne Resort and the Ephelia Resort.

Additionally, Michael has been involved in several smart city projects, namely, the Beau Plan Smart City and the Moka Smart City – with a focus on retail, commercial and office building projects.

Currently, Michael is working on multiple healthcare projects including a LINAC bunker for radio therapy, mixed-use development Port Louis harbour and the reconstruction of a five-star hotel, LUX Belle Mare.
