Mike Wood is a chartered civil and structural engineer based in Arup’s Nottingham office. He has more than 20 years’ experience on building engineering projects as a structural engineer and more recently leading multidisciplinary design teams on complex projects.

He has undertaken the detailed design of projects using various structural materials and has particular experience in sports, hotels and leisure, education and industrial building sectors. He led the engineering design of Sandwell Aquatics Centre, which is bringing a sporting legacy to Birmingham and the Midlands, as well as Derby Arena, which is one of a handful of velodromes in the UK.

Mike enjoys finding solutions that deliver technical excellence cost effectively. He brings a wide range of experience from the many projects he has delivered for both public and private sector clients, and understands how to achieve landmark architecture whilst providing best value to the client. Mike’s interest lies in making a meaningful contribution to improving the built environment and he particularly enjoys seeing projects through all design stages from concept to completion.
