Patrick McCafferty, PE, LEED AP, is an Associate Principal and the Americas East Education Leader based in Arup's Boston office. With over 25 years of multinational engineering design experience, Patrick began his career at Arup in 1996 as an American Scholar in the London and New York offices before joining Arup's Boston office in 2005. Patrick specializes in the design of innovative and architecturally expressive structures, most notably the 3.5 million square-foot Vietnamese German University in Ho Chi Minh City, the Northeastern University Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex Pedestrian Bridge, and Colby College's Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center. A professional engineer in seven US States, his broad range of experience includes international project management and the structural design of airports, museums, performance venues, high rise, academic buildings, stadia, mixed-use developments, bridges, facades, and sculpture.

Patrick was named by Consulting Specifying Engineer Magazine as among the top 40-under-40 building engineers in the US, was a member of faculty in MIT's Department of Architecture in addition to serving as an advisor to Cornell University’s Department of Civil Engineering. He is a frequent architectural juror at numerous colleges and universities worldwide and is a member of faculty in Harvard University's Graduate School of Design.
