Yoong Heng has been recognised with multiple accolades particularly for his contributions to Singapore’s underground railway development. Among them, he was one of six Professional Engineers (PEs) lauded at the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Design and Engineering Safety Awards in 2018. Yoong Heng was recognised for technical excellence and utmost safety, presiding over the tunnel boring works and a highly complex temporary diversion of the Singapore River for Fort Canning station and associated tunnels along the Downtown Line. In 2020, he was among four PEs recognised with the Excellence award by the BCA and had led the project team to win the highest accolade at the Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore’s Design Excellence Award 2020 for his work on Woodlands interchange station along the Thomson-East Coast Line.
