I’m an economist in Arup’s City Economics and Planning team in London. I work with local and national government as well as with private companies to provide business cases and advice for economic development strategies, programmes and policies. I have a particular focus on inclusive and sustainable growth.
I enjoy working across disciplines to shape new ways of working, where economics and financial strategies are shaped more broadly by social, environmental and design considerations. This has influenced my work on projects such as the Royal Docks Infrastructure Investment Plan, Bristol Inclusive Growth Strategy, and an integrated economics and public realm vision for BEE Midtown business improvement district, which won the Institute for Economic Development’s ‘Innovation’ award in 2019.
In an increasingly complex world, I believe economists can build the best investment cases by considering the built environment, community and society, environment and sustainability, and the political economy. This work is challenging, but it drives us to think more about the relationships of the systems we live within and how we operate as city-shapers.
