One of the most evident impacts of climate change and urbanisation is the increasing and widespread water stress experienced by cities globally.

As communities, governments and businesses begin to recover from the deep and tragic impacts of Covid-19, delivering on the powerful mission of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 to “ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all” becomes more important than ever.

We are pleased to have supported the 50L Home Coalition, whose mission it is to reduce household water consumption to 50 litres per person per day, on the development of their White Paper: A Circular Water Future.

The White Paper builds on the experience of Capetonians during so-called ‘Day Zero’ in 2017/18, in ways to mitigate the impact of an extended period of low rainfall and the role of water re-use.  It explores how a strategic and systemic approach can make a substantial contribution to address water stress in cities globally.
