Design with water

Design with water

With the growing impacts of climate change and overpopulation, fresh water supply is an increasingly critical global resource. So often wasted, a fresh water supply is essential to human health. As heavily populated regions start to experience acute water scarcity, there is a clear need to develop alternative means of meeting demand.

Arup’s "design with water" approach to developing an integrated water management plan addresses the critical issues related to demand management including existing infrastructure capacity, watershed coordination, water-use efficiency, city resilience, flood risk, stormwater management, water reuse, and climate adaptation.

Our approach is unique and sensitive to the needs of architects, city planners, utilities, developers, and the community. By aligning technical planning and engineering analyses and supporting socioeconomic and environmental drivers, we can protect and enhance the water cycle while delivering wider benefits.
