Establishing curbside EV charging to serve all

The global investment in electrification of mobility requires strategic alignment of best practices to deploy public curbside electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in a scalable and cost-effective manner. California has mandated 100% EV sales by 2035 as part of its decarbonization strategy, and the deployment of the necessary infrastructure is imperative to a successful, accelerated, equitable shift toward electrification.

Charge4AllTM | Establishing Curbside EV Charging to Serve All analyzes both the challenges endured and opportunities available to public agencies and utilities responsible for the execution of EV charging infrastructure mandates. By understanding the first-hand experiences of those tasked with this work, we draw insight from the barriers they face and initiate strategic methods to mitigate the blockers and optimize the opportunities to ultimately result in a more efficient and effective deployment of accessible EV charging infrastructure.

Arup worked with partners Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI), Southern California Edison (SCE), Burbank Water and Power (BWP), and Los Angeles Water and Power (LADWP) to examine the current methods used to deploy EV infrastructure and uncover more streamlined efforts that can be utilized in California and globally. This has resulted in a case study for global best practice and a digital dashboard for rapid deployment.
