Over half of the world’s population live in cities, which consume 75% of natural resources and produce 50% of global waste. Towards a net-positive future, regenerative design calls for a rethink to the way we design and construct the built environment to improve societal resilience, restore planetary health and regenerate ecological systems.
Regenerative design is about ensuring the built environment has a net positive impact on natural systems. To progress towards regenerative design and systems for our planet, we need to understand how to design for all species whilst respecting planetary boundaries and utilising science-based targets.
