Energy efficient building services concept supports flexibility and assures a high internal comfort level

As one of the first buildings on the South Axis, and characterised by the central atrium which allows the sunlight to flood in, Atrium has been a popular place of business for many leading international companies. A renovation was needed to modernise the building, whilst keeping its unique character intact.

We are working closely with MVSA Architects and are responsible for the building services design. The project connects a renovated building with two new towers, which will include offices, meeting and conference facilities, dry cleaning, car wash services, a gym and several restaurants.

Both new towers will meet the energy rating 'BREEAM-nl Excellent', whereas the renovated building will be classified 'BREEAM-nl In Use Very Good'. The synergy of all tenants using the central plant reduces energy use and costs, contributes to a healthier environment and enhances contact between the occupiers.

New building services on the office floors support flexibility in use and ensures a high internal comfort level (class A). The sustainable design includes a new climate system based on radiative heating and cooling, fed by a long term energy storage (LTES) for the total complex. Approximately 800m2 of photo voltaic panels will be installed.

By relocating the car traffic to new parking below ground, an appealing pedestrian area with trees and benches will be created.
