Multiple engineering services for A class office building in Krakow

The new A class Axis office building is located in Grzegórzki district of the Krakow city, the biggest business center in the southern part of Poland. Built by Skanska, the smart design of the building takes its inspiration from the Scandinavian spirit. With a total building area of nearly 35,000m2, the nine storey building and three underground floors is an attractive place to future tenants, as it is set in pleasant surroundings, well connected to the near park and to the city.

We brought together a diverse team of engineers and sustainable experts to enable a holistic approach and consider the building from a number of perspectives. We prepared MEP building services design from concept through building permit to execution stage. We also supervised the works on site during construction and prepared detailed fitout design for ABB, the company which rents a large part of the building.

The design from concept design was delivered in BIM technology using Revit, which resulted in efficient multidisciplinary coordination and minimized risks during the construction process.

Energy saving

The Axis building adopts many simple energy saving features and technologies that improve its occupants comfort. We used extensive energy modelling not only for LEED purposes, but also to optimise proposed technical solutions to meet the targeted energy efficiency of the building within the client's budget.

The simulated total building energy consumption was reduced by 35% in comparison to reference buildings constructed in accordance with Polish regulations and local standards.

The Axis office building was awarded at the third edition of The Pascal Prize 2017 for HVAC design.
