The restoration

The hotel is located next to the recently completely renewed Milan Central Station and Pirelli skyscraper (built in 1948) and was part of the refurbishment process of the overall area surrounding the Central station. This refurbishment included the demolition of Pirelli’s wing structure alongside other three adjacent buildings that have been replaced by a unique new building, interacting with the surrounding environment. The facades have been refurbished in the process, bringing the building to the original condition.

In addition to the five star services, the hotel facilitates a royal suite, a private cinema, a conference centre, a covered swimming pool and a spa. The new design combines 21st century hotel’s requirements but keeps the key brand elements of a city like Milan: style, fashion and elegant design. As an example, the 1,000 m2 Katara Suite on the seventh floor of the “historic” building is a profusion of very elegant materials accompanied not just by high technology, but by the attention to detail, including the custom made furnishings and the various shapes and types of rooms and suites.

This is a wonderful endorsement of the unique work we are currently undertaking with our partners Studio Marco Piva to further enhance this iconic hotel in Milan ” Hamad Abdulla Al-Mulla CEO, Katara Hospitality

Completed in 2014, The Excelsior Gallia Hotel is well-known by all the Milanese people as a high quality building for international clients waiting for an elegant design interpreted with a Milanese style.
