Gentari acquisition of WIRSOL Energy Australia, Australia

A smooth transaction on a Solar PV and BESS portfolio acquisition in Australia

Australia’s clean energy transition is making progress due to innovation and investment across solar, wind, hydrogen, hydropower and bioenergy. Renewable energy production is a focus for the Australian Government and industry as the country moves away from fossil fuels towards a clean energy future.

Our team of Transaction Services specialists provided a significant contribution toward the acquisition of WIRCON GmbH’s Australian renewable energy business, WIRSOL Energy (WIRSOL) by Gentari, a Malaysian clean energy solutions provider – the company’s maiden entry into Australia’s renewable energy market.

The acquisition of WIRSOL Energy is a milestone in the path towards Gentari achieving its target of more than 30GW in renewable energy capacity by 2030. The acquisition was made via Gentari’s affiliated entity, Gentari Renewables Australia (Solar) Pty Ltd.

We supported Gentari, with due diligence on the acquisition. Our team from Australia, East Asia, and Southeast Asia formed a strong foundation to provide technical expertise and insights that assisted Gentari in this successful acquisition. This project embodies our firm’s core commitment to decarbonisation and sustainable development.

WIRSOL Energy is a prime renewable energy solutions provider in Australia, with integrated solar PV and BESS (battery energy storage system) capability comprising 422 MW in operating capacity and 765 MW potential capacity in projects under development.

Being naturally endowed with abundant resources, Australia is well placed in spearheading the energy transition mission. Arup is privileged to bring together our in-depth local Australian knowledge and extensive global expertise in supporting Gentari a visionary partner on its sustainable energy journey. ” Marcus Wong Marcus Wong Project Manager

Australia offers strong market potential, underpinned by supportive government policies and a robust financing ecosystem, making the investment into WIRSOL Energy a natural choice for Gentari. This addition to Gentari’s portfolio will enable us to continue our efforts in building capacity for delivering integrated sustainable energy solutions, to help customers make the journey to net zero emissions. ” Sushil Purohit Chief Executive Officer, Gentari
