Centerpiece of the waterfront revitalization along the Huangpu River

The regeneration project along Shanghai’s North Bund involves the development of 12 office buildings, 1 retail building and associated basements for retail and car parking.

Arup played a key role as the building sustainability, façade and MEP consultants throughout all stages of the development, from design to construction and management. Our focus was on embedding as many green strategies as feasible within the design, ensuring they can be achieved during the construction process.

Designed as a global sustainable landmark, the project provides boat slips for yachts and supports a central submerged HVAC plant and pump room that uses river water for heat rejection, improving micro climate quality for the surrounding plaza and buildings.
