For a country not known for having a rich golfing history, judging from the number of courses that have been designed over the past few years, we may be telling a different story 20 years from now. This beautiful site just outside St Petersburg on the Finnish Gulf has been designed by one of the leading names in golf course design and Arup were then invited to develop a concept masterplan for the territory adjacent to the course itself.
Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty with historical mansions and estates nearby, Arup worked with Studio Buschow to create a masterplan that comprised luxury apart-hotels, cottages and a club-house.
The Client insisted on an `English style´ to the design, and the resulting masterplan and architectural visuals showed clean, modern lines with all apartments and cottages having magnificent views.
Arup’s scope included designing the roads, utilities and transport strategy, as well as landscape architecture across the 10 ha site. Working with the architect, Arup were also responsible for designing concept floor plans for the modern villas and apart-hotels as well as facade samples.
