Lighting design review for Egyptian antiquities

The Museo Egizio in Turin specialises in Egyptian archaeology and anthropology and houses the world’s second largest collection of Egyptian antiquities after Cairo. The museum has undergone an extensive refurbishment.

Arup reviewed the lighting design after the client decided to change the lighting design approach. We evaluated and redesigned the exhibition lighting infrastructure and in addition, we advised on the choice of glass for the showcases and the choice of fixtures.

Towards the end of the refurbishment our client asked us to help to make final critical lighting choices on-site. In the rush towards the opening our support, provided by colleagues from the Milan and Amsterdam offices, was especially valuable for the museum.

Museo Egizio was reopened on 31 March 2015.
