Neturen Ibaraki Factory, Hitachinaka, Ibaraki

Establishment of appropriate project sequence.

Neturen’s new Ibaraki Factory was completed in July 2013 at the industrial park in Hitachinaka-city, Ibaraki-Prefecture, as a hub of its business operation in north Kanto region.

Comprising factory and office spaces, the building is a 90m by 60m rectangle with large canopies on its east and west sides, yielding a total GFA of 9,000m². The factory heat treats various components of construction machines and automobiles with high frequency wave using the Neturen’s unique IH technology. The building is intentionally located at the north part of the site to allow the future expansion to the south in flexible response to  the demand increase.

Arup was involved in the project from the preliminary planning stage, providing project management, structural and MEP engineering services consistently until the completion of the building. The facilitation of the project process was the most challenging task due to the tight project schedule. Arup successfully addressed it by setting and managing the appropriate project sequence.

The success was achieved by appropriately organising the conditions and requirements of the project, selecting the right design-build contractor through the competitive tender, establishing the rules for design and construction process, monitoring the progress in accordance with the established rules, and providing appropriate technical advices. These factors contribute not only to the efficient flow of the project sequence but also to the successful control of the construction quality and project cost, which eventually led to a high level of the client’s satisfaction for our services.

The factory held its igniting ceremony in November 2013 and is in full operation since 2014.
