Phnom Penh International Airport serves the main business traffic to Cambodia and has experienced rapid passenger growth over the last few years. Cambodia Airports is investing in an extensive airport expansion programme to meet current and future demands.
The airport plans to double its capacity from 2.5 million to 5 million passengers a year by 2015. As part of this programme, the existing terminal building will be expanded and all the airport operation, security and baggage handling systems will be modernised to enhance the operational efficiency and cater for the significant increase in demand.
Arup was appointed to review the operational layout of the new expanded airport and also to provide detailed design services for all the airport operational systems including airport check-in and departure controls, ICT, security, management and baggage handling systems.
