Arup was commissioned to develop a strategic plan for the future of the Passenger Rail by the Passenger Agency of South Africa (PRASA). PRASA merged the operations, personnel and assets of the South African Rail Commuter Corporation, Metrorail, Intersite Property Management Services, PRASA Cres, Shosholoza Meyl and Autopax.
The review will report by April 2012 and will establish what is needed for the future of passenger systems in South Africa over the period until 2050 in terms of high-speed rail, commuter rail, light rail and other public transport solutions in order to meet PRASA’s objectives.
To deliver the project Arup assembled a group of leading global and local experts to create an innovative sustainable solution.
