There has been a dramatic change over the past decade in the type of work carried out in Ireland and while buildings still account for a great part of the work, projects now include a portfolio of bridges, roads and infrastructure work.
Included in this issue is Arup’s extensive work on the Custom House Docks development, Dublin Castle restoration and UCD’s Engineering School in Dublin.
We detail the design of the three-span twin cantilever bridge carrying the Athlone bypass across the River Shannon with particular emphasis on the embankment construction on some of the weakest soft clays in the world.
In Cork we look at our work on the Sandoz pharmaceutical plant and the design and project management of the natural gas compressor station for the Kinsale Head offshore gas field.
