The new Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) is South Australia’s flagship tertiary level health care facility, providing 700 overnight and 100 same-day beds. Arup was involved with the $1.85 billion project for many years, co-locating our staff within the South Australia Health Project office, creating one high performing team to assist in delivery of the project.
Arup’s advisory role included project management of the feasibility and master planning early stages; acoustic, vibration, logistics and environmental advisory services; and later, implementation of an integrated Program Management Office (iPMO) for the transition phase, relocating to the new facility. This last role included assisting with analysis, coordination and implementation of new management systems.
Critical to the success of the role was the direct support provided by Arup project managers to the equipment procurement, supply chain, operational commissioning and clinical activation, ICT, contract management and workforce teams, which strengthened the links between the project itself and the business side of the health service.
