Arup has been involved with the design and delivery of Yorkshire Water’s largest capital schemes, as well as being the company’s primary technical advisor.
Under the most recent framework, Arup has been working in close collaboration with the client in a ground-breaking procurement and capital delivery environment. Sustainability has been at the forefront of the thinking.
Arup has taken a novel approach to the reuse of existing assets, whilst reducing the plants’ carbon footprint. This is part of the refurbishment to bring the performance of the water and wastewater treatment works in line with new legislation.
One of Yorkshire Water’s key targets is to derive at least 10% of its energy from renewable sources by 2010. Arup has assisted Yorkshire Water in reaching this target by helping to provide wind turbines for local power supply at several Yorkshire Water sites.
Working in partnership with the client, significant economic, environmental and social benefits have been achieved across the region.
