Implementation of Innovative Bridge Technologies, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu

In 2019, we began a study, funded by the World Bank, investigating the implementation of innovative bridge technologies in the Pacific. Through this study, we shortlisted modular bridges appropriate to meet the Pacific region’s infrastructure needs and enhance resilience. The project also included performance monitoring of a pilot project in Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

Arup has partnered with non-profit organisation Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) to design the Bridge Visualization Tool which will provide bridge construction support to local communities in East Africa and Central America.

Rijkswaterstaat bridge renovations

The Dutch roads authority Rijkswaterstaat has undertaken a long-term bridge maintenance and refurbishment programme that will extend their service life by about 30 more years. Arup, together with RHDHV and Greisch have been working together over the past ten years to deliver strengthening design and engineering solutions for this nationwide bridge repair programme.
