OPTIF applies powerful loads analysis methods and automated workflows to rapidly iterate designs, allowing for a complex design space to be explored considering many thousands of different scenarios. This allows an optimal design configuration to be identified, enhances confidence in designs at an early stage, and can result in fewer load iterations being required with the wind turbine manufacturer and reduced risk of changes in later design stages.

Building on Arup’s structural and geotechnical experience from the wider built environment, OPTIF uses purpose-built optimisation algorithms to identify primary steel configurations that minimise steel weights and reduce fabrication costs. Using industry best-practice, detailed finite element models of key components can be developed and analysed quickly and efficiently.

The solution is designed to be flexible and can be adapted to meet project specific requirements. It is solver-agnostic, facilitates transparency in delivery, and ensures consistency in approach and data formats from feasibility assessments through to detailed design.
