Michael Tomordy, Arup communications leader in East Asia, has won the Architectural and Systems Design Award in the 2009 RFP (Real Estate, Facilities, Projects) Outstanding Individuals in Industry Awards. Organised by Asia’s leading trade publication RFP Magazine, the scheme is designed to recognise professionals for their eminent contributions to the built environment in Asia.
The award winners were selected by a celebrity judging panel featuring experts and industry insiders. The judging panel selected the winner based on the nominees’ individual and team contribution including the significance of their projects, technical complexity, project size, innovation and difficulties overcome. The awards will be officially conferred at a gala dinner in Hong Kong on 14 May.
Leading both the communications and security teams, comprising a group of multidisciplinary professionals executing projects across Asia, Michael has worked on the strategy, design, procurement and management of a large variety of projects. He specialises in the strategy and design of business driven solutions for the built environment in the demanding and ever changing fields of information and communication technology and security. Significant clients and projects of his team include the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal 3, HSBC’s new data centre at Tseung Kwan O Estate, Hong Kong International Airport Terminal 2, ALDAR’s new headquarters in Abu Dhabi and the Rajiv Grandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. As a result of a proactive attitude towards communication and teamwork and keeping abreast of the latest technology developments enables Michael to advise his clients impartially of the most appropriate business driven solutions.
