Arup has been appointed by Guildford Borough Council to develop a long term movement strategy to 2050 for the town of Guildford.
Arup’s Transport Planning and Foresight + Innovation teams will be working with decision-makers, partners and other stakeholders to develop and apply a scenario planning approach to establish desirable transport futures.
These futures might include, for example, the increased use of sustainable transport modes such as public transport, walking and cycling, or the use of technology to improve traffic management in the town and to reduce vehicle emissions through the uptake of electric cars.
For each scenario, the pathway of action required to get there will be identified. This contrasts with conventional transport strategy work that involves forecasting future travel patterns and then developing investment programmes in response to the forecast trends.
