We have been recognized by one of the two Young Engineer Award’ at the 37th IABSE symposium for an outstanding paper and presentation on the BridgeTOOL Design and Construction of Rural Suspension Footbridges’.

The tool, developed by our engineers in London and Madrid, allows a rapid design of suspended footbridges by empowering local engineers in developed countries. It includes bridge-building processes and adjustments to different needs and construction requirements.

Thanks to this method, last year we helped the NGO Bridges To Prosperity (B2P) to build a suspended bridge in Rwanda and we are currently working on a similar project in Panama.

The 37th IABSE symposium was held in Madrid between 3-5 September with more than 650 attendees and 450 technical papers approved. 24 of our engineers participated at the event, with 14 authored or co-authored papers; and joining two round discussion tables along with the key speech Delivering Architectural Quality in Design-Build and PPP Projects’ by Matt Carter.

Well done on such a superb effort to promote Arup at the conference and to get so much involvement of our people. ” Matt Carter Matt Carter Arup Fellow, Americas East Highways Leader
