Our ethical standards policy

At Arup, our mission is to shape a better world. We know that to do this, we must maintain the highest possible ethical standards.

Objectives

Following our ethical standards policy, we will:

  • Act honourably and with integrity in all our business dealings
  • Ensure that no financial or other inducements to gain or retain work are offered or accepted by or on behalf of Arup
  • Recognise the duty of confidentiality in all our client relationships and give it the highest importance
  • Identify and address any potential conflicts of interest
  • Endeavour to raise the ethical standards of global business in the market in which we operate
  • Give people working at all levels in Arup the training, advice and information they need
  • Integrate ethical considerations into our design and business decisions
  • Provide pro bono services where appropriate and engage with the wider community.

Outcomes

In meeting these objectives, we will:

  • Comply with all the legal and other requirements of the countries in which we work
  • Justify the trust of our clients by prioritising their interests in the work we do for them
  • Take steps to see that all our people are aware of, and follow, our Ethics Code of Practice
  • Appoint a group board director with responsibility for ethical business practices
  • Undertake due diligence on our clients, joint venture partners, agents and other advisors
  • Participate in industry forums to promote industry best practice
  • Sustain our long-term success and enhance our reputation.
