Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland and is a centre for government, business, the arts, higher education and industry. It has a rich history of manufacturing and trading and a city centre that has been subject to significant regeneration over the last two decades.
Arup has had an office in Belfast city centre since 2000 and, today, has a well-developed and growing business. Our staff play a central role in many of Northern Ireland’s most significant infrastructure and building projects. We also provide planning, economic consultancy, strategic resilience and sustainability services.
Our work in Northern Ireland includes the engineering of major highway projects, such as the dualling of the A26 and A8, as well as railway feasibility and design. Arup played a central role in the environmental planning and design of the National Trust’s award-winning Giant’s Causeway Visitor Centre, and, more recently, we have been engineering designers for the transformation of Windsor Park into the National Football Stadium.
In Belfast, we have been a primary player in the design of the urban green infrastructure and flood alleviation project, Connswater Community Greenway, and we are lead consultant for the creation of an integrated public transport interchange, Belfast Transport Hub.
