Arup was awarded the Business Working Responsibly Mark at the Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) annual CEO Breakfast Forum in Dublin Castle on Tuesday, 25 October 2016.

Arup is the first engineering company in the country and one of 23 companies in Ireland to achieve the Business Working Responsibly Mark. Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs, a world-renowned professor of economics, was the keynote speaker at the BITCI CEO Breakfast Forum. An Tánaiste, Frances Fitzgerald, presented Eoghan Lynch, Chairperson of Arup in Ireland, with the Business Working Responsibly Mark certificate.

Independently audited by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) and based on ISO 26000, the Business Working Responsibly Mark certifies responsible and sustainable business practices. It assesses best in class Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and looks at how we treat our customers, employees, suppliers, communities and the environment. The Business Working Responsibly Mark was awarded to Arup following assessment of five business areas: Corporate Responsibility (CR)/Sustainability Governance, Workplace, Marketplace, Environment and Community.

The achievement of the Business Working Responsibly Mark is very well aligned with Arup's values in terms of social usefulness, having fair and honourable dealings and being a humane organisation. The Mark helps Arup to be more structured in its approach to Corporate Social Responsibility and Arup is currently working with the Simon Community, the LauraLynn Foundation, the Time to Read initiative, the Irish Red Cross and I Wish in this regard. ”
