Leading our markets and client strategy in Western Australia, Danya is focused on building and diversifying Arup’s business while ensuring we continue to positively impact our clients and the communities with whom we work.

Combining her civil engineering, urban planning and geography knowledge and expertise, Danya brings both a technical and strategic approach to project delivery and her leadership style.

An authentic, purpose-driven leader and people and project connector, Danya helps embed and nurture a holistic approach to delivering city-shaping projects with sustainability at their core, congruent with Arup’s purpose to shape a better world.

Danya has more than 20 years’ global consulting experience in transport planning, traffic engineering and statutory and strategic planning, and has delivered infrastructure projects in urban and rural settings throughout Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

This experience has been integral to achieving improved land use and transport integration in cities, leading major transport projects through business case and approvals processes and delivering them from prefeasibility through to construction phases.

Danya has demonstrated project leadership in several major infrastructure projects in Western Australia, including the Scarborough Beach Foreshore Redevelopment and Perth Airport Ground Transport Consolidation Plan.

Danya’s client and stakeholder management skills and relationship-building skills not only make her an excellent project delivery leader, but an effective industry and business connector. Proactive, engaged and well known in the industry, Danya is a WA Chapter Committee Member, Property Council of Australia Industrial Lands and Infrastructure Committee, part of the Committee for Perth Reshaping and Revitalising Working Group, a Member, Planning Institute of Australia and Member, Australian Institute of Traffic Planning and Management.

Centred on collaboration, innovation and sustainable development, Danya is helping Arup become a creative force in making Western Australia an even greater place to live, work and do business.

Danya holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts in Planning and Design and Geography. She has been recognised by Engineers Australia in its inaugural list of Most Innovative Engineers. Danya is an approved Gateway Reviewer.

Danya has written and co-written several published works and conference papers, including Encyclopaedia of Transportation: social science and policy, ‘Translating Principles in to Practice: examples of TOD in Perth, Western Australia’, AITPM National Conference: Transport Beyond Tomorrow and ‘Collaborative Mapping Tool: Using Community Engagement to Solve Parking Issues in Subiaco’, Planning Institute of Australia National Congress Canberra.
