David Dack

Associate Principal | Maritime – Australasia Leader

Leading the Maritime business for Arup’s Australasia region, David supports the growth of our teams and capabilities, helping our clients plan for future growth, transition to low carbon environments and meet their sustainable development goals.

David began his career with Arup in London in 2006 in the Maritime business, designing and advising on maritime infrastructure for city-shaping projects. Returning to Sydney four years later, David helped establish our Australasia Maritime business, supporting projects, creating trusted client partnerships and nurturing a growing technical team.

More recently, David’s focus has been supporting our clients respond to the socioeconomic and climate change-induced challenges faced by ports, coastal infrastructure, and coastal communities towards a more resilient and sustainable future.

David is acutely aware of ports’ vital role in providing the infrastructure and operational conditions needed to support clean energy and fuels initiatives, and the technical advice our clients will need, from conceptual studies and maritime infrastructure design to supply chain logistics advice. Working with our energy teams, he is also helping our clients become future energy ready.

David’s projects include supporting a waterfront development for Canary Wharf in London, the Port of Melbourne Webb Dock Redevelopment, the Circular Quay Renewal Project, the Kamay Ferry Wharves project and the award-winning Terrigal Boardwalk

He is a chartered Fellow of Engineers Australia, and member of the NSW Committee for the PIANC industry body which provides technical and environmental guidance on issues of waterborne transport infrastructure.
