Joondalup Health Campus, Joondalup, Perth

The Joondalup development will significantly expand hospital services for the local community

The Government of Western Australia has committed to an extensive program of works to revitalise the Western Australian public health system. A major component of the capital program is the redevelopment of infrastructure at the health campuses in the North Metropolitan Area Health Service (NMAHS).

One major infrastructure redevelopment project is the Stage 1 Redevelopment at Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) which is being funded through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement between the State and Ramsay Health Care Ltd.

Facility upgrade

The multi-million dollar redevelopment of the 13.5ha site will double the size of the existing facility and significantly expand the hospital services bringing enormous benefit to the local community.

In late 2009 John Holland commenced the phased construction on the site which will ultimately increase the number of hospital beds (private and public), include a new emergency department with state-of-the-art operating theatres, a new St John Ambulance centre, and upgrades to road access and parking facilities. The planned phased redevelopment will enable the existing hospital to continue to operate as normal with minimal disruption to patients. Construction is currently under budget and due to finish in 2013 - months ahead of schedule.

Arup is acting on behalf of the NMAHS to monitor and advise as required on the negotiation, management and execution of the construction of the public and shared components for the JHC Stage 1 Redevelopment Project. Working in close collaboration with the client, Arup will ensure the State’s interests in respect of scope, cost, time and quality as defined in the Contract and the Procurement Governance Framework are met.
