Europe internship programme
See it differently

Your ideas and perspective are unique. At Arup, we embrace how you see things differently. It's essential for creating a sustainable future.
As a global built environment consultancy, we bring together advisory and technical expertise across more than 130 disciplines to create safe, resilient and regenerative places. Together, we can turn bold ideas into real-world impact.
An internship at Arup is not coffee runs and shadow exercises. From your first weeks you sit inside a project team, working on briefs that matter — to clients, to communities, to the places people live. Whether you join us in Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, Poland, Serbia, Türkiye or Belgium, you will be trusted with real work from day one.
The Arup internship experience
Across Europe we offer summer internships, mandatory university placements and longer-term working-student arrangements. The format varies by country and discipline. The experience does not.
You will:
- Contribute to live projects alongside senior engineers, designers and consultants
- Own a defined piece of work, not a task list
- Be coached by people who do the job you are learning to do
- Leave with a portfolio of contributions — not a certificate of attendance
Our European offices are tight-knit. You will know the people you work with, and they will know you. Strong internships often lead to graduate offers.
Internship opportunities across Europe
Looking for an internship in Europe? In Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, Poland, Serbia, Türkiye and Belgium, we welcome students into our teams every year.
Each country sets its own pattern. Some offices recruit to a fixed summer window; others take placements year-round to match academic calendars and project demand. What stays constant is the work — and the trust we place in the people we hire.
Your development
You will be given responsibility, and you will be supported in carrying it.
We invest in your growth through coaching from senior team members, structured local learning, exposure to a wider network of disciplines, and the kind of feedback that helps you improve quickly. Arup is owned by its people through a trust, which means everyone you meet has a long-term interest in your development, not a quarterly target.
We hire interns across a wide range of specialisms: from engineering and design to advisory, digital, sustainability, finance, IT and communications.
