Arup has been honoured with the Hong Kong Institute of Project Management (HKIPM) Achievement Award 2013 for the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd (HKEx)’s Next Generation Data Centre.

The award scheme recognises, honours and promotes organisations demonstrating excellence and outstanding achievements in project and programme management within Hong Kong.

Located at Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate, the state-of-the-art facility consolidates HKEx’s primary data centres for all three markets (cash, derivatives and clearing) and clearing house systems under one roof, as well as the majority of IT development and support staff.

Arup’s Programme and Project Management team was applauded for its holistic approach to planning, managing and implementing this highly complex and technically demanding project to the required standards. With a team of project managers from varied backgrounds, we brought a broad knowledge and deep understanding of the technical design and construction processes for a high-end data centre. This enabled the project issues to be resolved efficiently whilst maintaining a strategic overview to deliver a cost-effective project on time and within budget.

The project presents a revolutionary model for delivering highly resilient, efficient and sustainable data centre infrastructure in a continually changing and fast-paced world. It also sets a new green benchmark for Hong Kong through its achievement of LEED Gold Certification.
