Renova Hotel Plot 17, Sochi

Design and construction of apartments for Sochi Olympics 2014

Arup and Renova Stroy Group have cooperated successfully on many projects across Russia – but this was certainly one of the most ambitious – in terms of both size and timescale.

With fears mounting that the amount of available accommodation for the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014 would not be adequate, only a handful of developers were prepared to accept the challenge.

Renova Stroy Group appointed Arup and AukettFitzroyRobinsion to design the huge hotel on a  24,6 ha plot on the third coastal line in Sochi.

With a total of 2688 single rooms, 128 double rooms and 64 rooms to accommodate families, this is one of the largest single hotel developments in recent years in Russia.

As with all our projects, “legacy use” is one of our key priorities and along with our collaborators, it was decided that following Games each two single rooms will be converted into larger apartments.

Design and construction of 3 and 4 stars apartment buildings with a total of 2880 rooms for Sochi Olympics 2014 with legacy use.

Car parking is located on the first floor of these buildings. Cafes, restaurants, bowling and a cinema support the development with catering and entertainment.

The landscaping features a lot of water and trees to create pleasant surroundings for the residents. Total building area is 137,420 m2.

As the timescale of the project was extremely tight, a lot of thought went in to the design process, which was fine-tuned to avoid any delays and changes.
