It’s an exciting time for the West Midlands.
A third Mayoral term is upon us and we have a significant opportunity to optimise devolution powers to drive transformative change across the region. We need to build on the momentum we have seen over the past decade in terms of investment in our towns and cities, drive to net-zero and showcasing the West Midlands on the world stage.
With one third (33.6%) of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) area population being under the age of 25, we turned to our local early careers cohort to share their views as the voices and changemakers of the future for the region.
This publication distils our ideas into six themes which underpin our wide expertise, local knowledge, and aspiration to shape places which address the diverse needs of our region. These ideas are intended to be bold, thought provoking, and inspire change and collaboration amongst those who live, work, and learn here.
