China World Trade Centre Phase 3B (CTWC 3B) in Beijing, China was honoured with the 17th Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize.
The award is the highest honour for technological innovation and application of China’s civil engineering and construction. Established by the China Civil Engineering Society and the Beijing Tien-Yow Jeme Foundation for Development of Science and Technology in Civil Engineering, the prize commends engineering projects with outstanding achievements in the areas of planning, design, construction and management.
Phase 3B stands at the heart of Beijing’s central business district, adjacent to the Arup-engineered Phase 3A tower completed in 2010. The 296m tall elegant bamboo shaped building accommodates a hotel and various office floors, adding 230,000m² GFA new area to the CWTC development. The Phase 3A building also won the same prestigious honour in 2011.
Arup provided structural and geotechnical engineering services and completed construction drawing design and review, in collaboration with other consultants. We also provided comprehensive residential engineer service to liaise construction-related design issues, inspect construction quality and conduct construction sequence analysis.
