Our experts are taking part in two publicly-accessible events during the inaugural Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Climate Week, which runs from 28 –31 March.

MENA Climate Week 2022 will convene representatives of national and subnational governments, cities, the private sector, financial institutions, and civil society to discuss opportunities to accelerate climate action across the Middle East and North Africa.

During a virtual panel session on Partnerships for Building Water Resilience, city leaders from across Africa and the Middle East will explore how they are meeting the twin challenges of increasing demand for water and sanitation services and building water resilience for their communities. This event will explore how the City Water Resilience Approach is a methodology which allows a city to move from understanding the urban water shocks and stresses it faces to developing interventions which build lasting resilience.

Arup and C40 have also collaborated to create a virtual exhibition showcasing the real ways that eleven cities across five continents are taking climate action now. The Global Cities Climate Action exhibition comprises a series of ‘virtual rooms’ that offer anyone with an interest in climate change and climate resilient development the chance to experience how cities are taking action. Exhibits involve and draw on the work and voices of the organisations achieving change at grassroots level in cities, from NGOs, community groups and the private sector.

Our event will showcase the virtual exhibition, share examples of city-based climate action, and pose questions about the future of knowledge sharing in an increasingly virtual and carbon-constrained world.
