Arup and The Crown Estate have been presented with the Landscape Science, Management and Stewardship Award for The Crown Estate London Ecology Masterplan.
The Ecology Masterplan aims to encourage biodiversity and ecology across central London by implementing more green infrastructure in both new developments, existing assets and the public realm.
It seeks to create an extensive network of green stepping stones connecting the Royal Parks through heavily built up areas. This includes installing more living walls, roof gardens, planters and pocket habitats to provide a more visually attractive environment, improve air quality, enahance biodiversity, increase storm water retention and reduce the heat island effect.
The Ecology Masterplan has led to the formation of Wild West End, a partnership between property owners (The Crown Estate, Howard de Walden, Shaftesbury, The Portman Estate, and Grosvenor Britain & Ireland) who have committed to increase and enhance green infrastructure in London's West End.
