Berlin, Germany’s capital and largest city, is a constantly evolving international metropolis, and also one of Europe’s greenest cities.
Arup’s Berlin office has influenced and will continue to shape the ever-transforming cityscape of this booming, creative and dynamic capital, while also working on projects throughout Germany and beyond.
When Berlin resumed its role as Germany’s capital after the reunification in 1990, Arup contributed to the reconstruction that followed. In the early 90s Arup completed projects such as the GSW high-rise and the Velodrome and Aquatic Centre, built as part of Berlin's bid for the Olympic games of 2000. Arup was also involved in the large scale urban renewal project at famous Potsdamer Platz, a historically significant area in central Berlin formerly divided by the Berlin Wall.
Berlin is home to the German Parliament and an abundance of governmental, cultural and educational institutions. In the last decade Arup was instrumental in the construction of several challenging embassy projects in Berlin, including the South African and Dutch embassies.
