Burkhard leads the Structural Engineering team in Germany. Since joining Arup in 2001 Burkhard has worked on a number of high profile projects such as the Allianz Arena in Munich, the Beijing National Stadium and the Shaktar Stadium in Donesk / Ukraine and in various roles.

Burkhard gained most of his experience abroad having spent 5 years in our Manchester office and further 5 years living and working in Russia. This has given him insight in different design cultures and different attitudes towards engineering helping him today to see his projects from different angles and derive alternative solutions.

Burkhard's technical skills and knowledge comprise detailed concrete design, wind engineering, stadium design and managing multidisciplinary projects. His biggest interest lies in developing new ways of team working, sharing and conveying design internally as well as externally.
