I am a lighting designer specialising in lighting design for the Education and Healthcare business sectors within the UK, as well as part of a core team leading the research and application of Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) globally.

I joined Arup in 2000 and lead the Lighting teams in Yorkshire and the Midlands, UK. I’ve worked on many projects across a number of sectors, though I am particulalry known as an expert within Arup and externally for the lighting for urban environment and education buildings; contributing to the design of many of our award winning projects such as University of Sheffield Concourse, Bradford City Park and the Reid Building.

I am also known for leading the adoption of new technology and assessment/analysis techniques into projects in a novel context. This can range from the development of software tools to improve our design process, to the application of lighting source technology or control systems.

I am a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL) and a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). I am also the SLL’s regional representative to the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Yorkshire Region.
