Michael Lorimer

Associate Principal, Americas East Healthcare Leader

Michael Lorimer is the Americas East Healthcare Business Leader, overseeing engineering design and strategy for healthcare and research facilities. Based in the Boston office, he brings expertise from developments across the world in the United States, the UK, Denmark, and Ireland. Since joining Arup in 2001, Michael has led and collaborated with multidisciplinary design teams, supervising many aspects of projects on low energy, low carbon, and highly complex facilities, including master plans, site assessments, feasibility, detailed design and site work through to handover.

Throughout his career, Michael has gained a wide range of experience in a variety of project types from hospitals, commercial offices, scientific research laboratories, and clean rooms to breweries, pharmaceutical plants, and museums. With his experience and skillset, he has led our design teams on the Mass General Brigham iCare Ambulatory program, the Ragon Institute Laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the award-winning UCH Macmillan Ambulatory Cancer Centre and Sainsbury Welcome Centre in London, and Bispebjerg Hospital in Copenhagen. His expert technical skills also include steam design, pipe stress analysis, specialist gases, and specialist ventilation systems.
